This layer can be used to indicate general localities where wildlife have been recorded. It can also be used as an index to assist in the analysis of the VBA_FLORA25 and VBA_FLORA100 layers. This layer includes restricted records and can act as an alternative to VBA_FLORA_RESTRICTED.

Records are available from throughout Victoria, although some area have extremely good coverage, e.g. Central Highlands, East Gippsland. The layer covers an area of south-east Australia extending from 139 degrees to 151.5 degrees EAST and 33 degrees to 42 degrees SOUTH. It thus incorporates substantial areas of South Australia and New South Wales plus all of Bass Strait and the north coast of Tasmania.
