Title: Victorian winterfill sustainable diversion limits
Anzlic ID: ANZVI0803002925

Abstract:
Winterfill sustainable diversion limit volumes (SDLs) have been developed across Victoria and represent the upper limit on winterfill diversions, beyond which there is an unacceptable risk that additional extractions may degrade the environment. Combined with the volume of current extractions the SDL provides water managers with a volume of available water in catchments across Victoria. This dataset includes the 1611 intermediate catchments that cover the state. Data associated with each intermediate catchment is held in the SDL_DATA layer.

Purpose:
For unregulated surface water catchments across Victoria, the winterfill sustainable diversion limit (SDL) volumes are one of several tools available to help water corporations assess applications for new licences to divert water or trading licences, for use between July and October. For current entitlements refer to the Victorian Water Register. To interpret the winterfill SDL data and understand how this information could be used for water resource management decisions, speak to your relevant water licensing authority.
