Combined boundaries of the Victorian Alpine fires and the NSW fires January/February 2003.

dataset: FIRE_03VNBND
The Victorian Alpine Fires 2003 were ignited on 8th January 2003 by a series of lightning strikes across north-eastern Victoria. This layer depicts the boundary of the Victorian and NSW fire boundaries. The Victorian part of this layer has been derived from fire number 39 in the fire100_2003 fire history dataset and combined with the NSW Canberra_SnowyFires03 layer. The NSW metadata can be found in the path below. The NSW data was supplied by the NSW Rural Fire Services. http://chln11/CA256F1C00247179/0/941730003147AA61CA2571CA00180E91/$File/Metadata_Fire_History_nsw2003.doc

Statement
Dataset Source: Fire100_year (fire no.39) for Vic. and the Canberra_SnowyFires03 (NSW data). Please refer to the 'related documents' for the full NSW metadata - part of it is "Fire History for the following LGAs, Bombala, Cooma-Monaro, Gundagai, Snowy River, Tumbarumba, Tumut, and Yass Valley. This NSW data is a subset of the fire-history collected from 2002-2004." Dataset Originality: Derived
Description
Collection Method: spatial data analysis from New South Wales and Victoria
Description
For the process of creating Fire_03vnbnd, refer to its metadata. The NSW data was originally in AGD66, it was converted to the datum GDA94. The new combined dataset is in mga55 projection. The datasets from Vic and NSW were dissolved and then appended to create fire_03vnbnd. During this process the items were dropped and the item 'firebnd was created.
