Shear zones (1:250,000)

dataset: SG_SHEAR_ZONE_250K
Shear zone areas. This dataset includes fault zones and shear zones defined during the Seamless Geology project (2006-2014). A shear zone is a zone of strong deformation (with a high strain rate) surrounded by rocks with a lower state of finite strain. It is characterised by a length to width ratio of more than 5:1. Attribute Quality
Comments
Attributes are mostly qualitative data obtained from field mapping by ERDD geologists. Validated for quality in 2012 in order to meet ERDD standards.

Positional Accuracy
Comments
The polygon edges are generally accurate to 250m.
