Description
- Title
- Groundwater bores maintained by CLPR (obsolete use GW_SITES or refer to the abstract Note)
- Alternate title
- CLPR_BORE
- Purpose
- The layer provides consolidated statewide detail on the location of groundwater bores. It is a key layer involved in supporting hydrological research, monitoring of catchment processes and measurement of effectiveness of catchment management strategies.

- Supplemental Information
- Current Design Issues: Each bore needs to be uniquely identified (via attribute bore-id) to enable linkage to the groundwater and other databases. Additional ID attributes are required to support earlier numbering schemes still extant within some of the associated databases. A subset of textual information has been extracted from the parent databases (ie monfreq, zone, easting, northing) to enhance the layers useability. Future Design Issues: Layer enhancements to enable linkage to time series water level, lithological and water quality data will be a future requirement. These linkages may be to other existing database systems. Related Documents: None

- Statement
- Dataset Source: CLPR bore data is sourced from the centres groundwater database and is regularly updated for monitored bores. Dataset Originality: Derived
- Description
- Collection Method: Field measurements, maps.
- Description
- The CLPR Groundwater Database is now held in SQL and updated regularly for monitored bores.

Attribute Quality
- Comments
- Only a subset of attributes from the parent databases have been included in the layer. The accuracy of these attribute varies across the State.
Positional Accuracy
- Comments
- Precision: The current positional accuracy of the bore locations is variable. It is estimated that approximately 10% of the bores are in the wrong locations to a significant degree. A more comprehensive spatial error analysis is required. Determination: - Not Documented
Conceptual Consistency
- Comments
- Because the layer is an aggregation of bores from several groups this influences it's logical consistency. Bores derived from CLPR are used for research and groundwater monitoring purposes (and may be located near roads to facilitate measurement). Previously in bores100 we included bores from SKM which are utilitarian, have differing deployment patterns and support a range of activities (ie. private bores sunk for irrigation, offshore drilling³s for oil exploration etc).
Missing Data
- Comments
- Bores are located across the State.
