dataset:
BURNPLAN24
Last updated: November 2023
This dataset represents the spatial extent of prescribed burns planned for ignition and associated mechanical and vegetation
works on Public Land in Victoria and some CFA burns. This data is prepared annually for prescribed burns planned for the immediate
three-year period. This dataset is now the joint fuel management plan and now includes the CFA burns as well as VicForest
coupe burns.

- Purpose
- Scheduling of fuel reduction and ecological burning is carried out through rolling three-year Joint Fuel management Plan. This dataset represents the spatial extent of prescribed burns planned for ignition on Public Land in Victoria for a three year period as well as CFA burns on private land. Each three year period is prepared annually and included on the new joint fuel management plan

- Supplemental Information
- Relationship to other Datasets: When burn operations are conducted the spatial extent of the area burnt will be recorded in the FIRE_HISTORY and FIRE_HISOTRY_LASTBURNT datasets. These layers represent the spatial extent of both Prescribed Burns and Wildfires. Current Design Issues: The current layer design complements the fuel management system (FMS). The EventID attributes allows the two databases to join. The event ID is now Greater than 1,000,000 for FMS. Data has been provided by CFA for the main burns. Future Design Issues: The current design represents the current three year period. Future annual plans may be integrated into a single dataset.
