Purpose

To support the Regional Plantation Committes with an updated version of plantn100 layer.

History: North East - Bernie Evans - NE Pilot completed 2003, based on 2001-02 data. Gippsland - Rob Willersdorf - updated layer design, completed late 2003. North East - Bernie Evans - review of North East up to 2003 date, same quality as Gippsland. Central Victoria - ? - Completed Mid-2004 Some areas around Bendigo are not complete, these areas are not in Central Victoria RPC, but plantations established in Bendigo area as a result of VEAC Box-Ironbark Implementation (mostly firewood plantations, some sawlog) Portland (Green Triangle) data is held by SERIC Mt Gambier for the whole Green Triangle, they have agreements with individual growers and cannot release the data, it is shared with John Kallis, RPC Manager Portland, in a map form. Digital data not available to Victorian Government. Peter Black and Peter Baker are likely to complete this area prior to June 2006.This area has now been completed and is current to June 2006. Some data exists in the region with Rob 'Cubby' Walter and with Mark Garvey at the CFA. Helen Vaughan helped coordinate the North East, Gippsland and Central Victoria RPC data collection. Kate Shanahan consolidated the data for all areas except the small Bendigo information (not researched) and the Portland area. Data used to support Spatial Vision (CFA type) mapbooks. Errors have been identified by regional fire managers, this data is not planned for updating. Todd Gretton from Fire and John White from SII are aware of these issues, it is planned to incorporate the data into Vicmap Veg layer at some time to ensure its updating and enhancement. Fire Issues need to be addressed as part of this review, DPI may be interested in Plantation Policy Issues. NR no longer has responsibility for updating this layer as at 30 June 2009. Dataset Source: The data has been derived using aerial photography and satellite imagery. DSE and DPI working in conjunction with Ecosystems Services P/L, Bairnsdale to complete all areas of the state except the Green Triangle (Portland). Portland data was derived from existing data and the use of Parish Plans. Dataset Originality: Primary
