Gippsland Basin Geothermal Gradient Map (1:1,000,000)
dataset:
GEOTGRADGIP
Gippsland basin Geothermal gradient.
The image was taken from a report by King et al (1987), Geothermal Resources of Victoria.
The study looked primarily at low - medium grade geothermal resources associated with warm to hot (300 - 700 C) groundwaters of good quality.
The report details the substantial low-grade geothermal resources that exist in the major sedimentary basins in the southern part of the State, the economics of a number of direct use applications, environmental issues, and legal matters.
The geothermal gradients vary from 20 - 250C/100m .
