- Purpose
- The Victorian government has reviewed the system for collection of firewood on public land. The following changes will come into effect on 1 September 2011 in all State forests (and those parks where collection is allowed): - A permit is no longer required to collect firewood for personal use. Firewood collected for personal use cannot be sold. -Collection is only allowed in designated firewood collection areas during state-wide firewood collection seasons - Autumn (1 April to 30 June) and Spring (1 September to 30 November). The Spring season may be closed prior to 30 November if a fire danger period is declared. The changes make firewood collection on public land more affordable and straightforward for the community, and safeguard the environmental sustainability of our forests and parks.
