Native Vegetation Framework - Conservation Significance
dataset:
NVF_CONSIG
This dataset has been developed for use by local government and Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) staff who are assessing planning permit applications to clear native vegetation that are classified as low impact.
Site-based data is generally not available for permit applications assessed using the low impact pathway. This layer allows a local government or DSE officer to determine the default conservation significance of remnant patches without the need to collect site-based data.
The data layer has been created using modelled vegetation type and quality, available best and remaining habitat models and spatial information on other attributes.
This dataset does not reflect any requirements of the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 or Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. This dataset has been developed for a particular use scenario.

Description
- Title
- Native Vegetation Framework - Conservation Significance
- Alternate title
- NVF_CONSIG
- Purpose
- The conservation significance of native vegetation is determined according to Appendix 3 of Victoria's Native Vegetation Management - A Framework for Action (DNRE 2002). This dataset was derived from the following datasets, applying the criteria in Appendix 3: 1.Native Vegetation NV2005_EVCBCS * NV2005_QUAL ie Bioregional status of EVCs and modelled habitat scores 2. Species 31 Approved Best 50% and Remaining 50% habitat models (threshold at 80% probability of suitable habitat) - these models are for species most likely to be impacted on by clearing permit applications 3. Other Attributes National Estate Values on Private Land; Ramsar Sites; East-Austalasian Shorebird Sites and Wetlands list in 'A directory of important Wetlands in Australia' Attributes: Very High High Medium Low
