The dataset has been visually checked. All polygons have either been closed using ArcToolbox within ArcGIS, or its topology corrected when imported into ArcSDE. 

Missing Data

In progress. Completeness Verification: Matched against 1:100,000 map series roads and topographic features used to define boundaries as listed in Schedule IIA of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act (1984).

100% complete. Name and contact details have been obtained from the VAHC and are accurate to date of publishing.

To be determined. RAP boundaries were delineated from 1:25,000 VicMap data and other data where the scale and accuracy is not known. 

Lineage

Description

The RAP boundaries have been derived from verbal information received from Aboriginal communities and hand drawn boundaries on various mapping media. The RAP boundaries dataset was digitised using ArcGIS Desktop editing tools, mainly by tracing along roads, rivers, state boundary, water catchments, lakes and park boundaries. Interpretation of spot height and contour data was also used in determining boundaries.

Dataset Source: Data used to generate these boundaries were initially sourced from information received from Aboriginal communities and then digitised using the following data sources: Road & river centrelines data based on VicMap Transport and Hydro data products (1:25,000). Contour line and spot height point data based on VicMap Elevation data product (1:25,000). State border data based on VicMap Index data product (1:500,000). 3 nautical mile boundary determined from Vic 3nm Limit vector data (1:25,000) sourced from Data.Vic website. Park boundaries based on PK_PARKRES (Parks and Conservation Reserves) vector data (1:2,500 to 1:100,000) sourced from Data.Vic website. Melbourne Water Drainage Catchments, Major Catchments and Primary Catchment boundaries sourced from Melbourne Water. National Native Title Tribunal digital data sourced from nntt.gov.au website.
