dataset: RECWEB_TRACKS
A derived dataset of extracted features from Vicmap TR_ROAD dataset that represents the DELWP-managed recreation track network mainly in State Forest. Recreation Tracks within State Forest dataset represents walking/cycling tracks and touring routes within State Forest. This dataset will assist staff in their management roles and facilitate promotion to the public. All tracks are actively promoted to the public and maintained by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. This dataset was initially created as part of the 2004 Recreation Facilities Database project and is now actively maintained through Vicmap Roads and extracted for use with apps and asset management tools.It is regularly updated to reflect changes to our recreational tracks (including walking, mountain biking and other tracks).

Purpose
The main purpose is to assist all DEECA staff with the management and consideration of recreation facilities. Facilities and activities have been classified in a uniformed system aiding in desktop analysis, planning and promoting recreation within State Forests. All facilities have a geo-referenced photo that can be viewed through MapShare. Risk assessments have been conducted when data was collected and will continue to the conducted every 6 to 18 months. Risk assessment and all other information can be obtained through the RecWeb database on the Departments Intranet.

History: Formerly RECWEB_TRACK 18 June 2025 - Method for creation modified This dataset is constructed in FME from data stored within RecWeb Field feature service. Previously RECWEB_TRACK was compiled by Python script pulling together data from rec_track_singlepart within VDP and aspatial data from IFIS database. Related Documents: None

Description
All data has been post processed by base stations. A customised processing system screens the data to ensure all serial numbers are unique and to detect spelling errors.
