A public aquistion overlay was applied to approximately 15,000 hectares of land under the Wyndham, Melton, Greater Geelong and Morrabool planning schemes in August 2010 (Planning Scheme Amendment VC68).

Purpose:
Under the Melbourne Strategic Assessment (MSA), the WGR are being established to offset development in Melbourne's growth corridors. The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is required to purchase or acquire all of the 140 properties covered by the Public Acquistion Overlay in the WGR area by 2020.
The purpose of this dataset is to define the extent of the future Western Grassland Reserves.
