Recreation asset dataset describes assets related to recreation sites or trails (such as toilets, viewing platforms, picnic shelters etc) within State Forest. This dataset provides valuable information to promote these assets for public use as well as assisting staff in their management of these assets. All recreation assets within State Forest have been captured and recorded with a Trimble Pro XR GPS and are actively promoted to the public and maintained by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.

This dataset has been created as part of the Recreation Facilities Database project. Initial data collection commenced in December 2004 and will be completed in August 2005. New facilities will be added periodically to the dataset as required.

Positional Accuracy:
Data has been collected with a Trimble pro XR GSP with an external antenna. The majority of points have sub metre accuracy, detailed in the attributes. The upper limit of accuracy is within 10m for 95% of the data. All data has been post processed using GPSnet base stations.
Attribute Accuracy:
Recreation Facility attributes were collected on site. The majority of the attributes are from drop down lists which minimises errors.

The majority of points have sub metre accuracy. All data has been post processed using GPSnet base stations.

Addition of Unique Feature Identifier (UFI), a combination of the entity id and update date. Incremental update is enable using the UFI numbers.
Current Design Issues: Recreation Facilites Database datatsets are currently captured as individual shapefiles which are validated, merged and migrated to the FORESTS schema of the corporate SDE evironment via an Arc/Info aml based process.

This dataset replaces the RFDB asset datasets- Bird Viewing Hide, Boardwalk, Bridge, Rec Generator, Hang Gliding Launch, Information Shelter, Jetty, Picnic Shelter, Recreation Element, Elevated Stairs, Toilet Block and Viewing Platform.
Several tables with their Lat and Lon values are combined into the RECWEB_ASSET dataset. Oracle SQL is used to create the final tables structure. Oracle spatial is used to create the points layer. The following are the source tables used to create the dataset:
