Plot location for all current Permanent Growth Plots (PGPs)

dataset: PGP_VF
Point data describing the location and key characteristics of all PGPs that are currently under active management by VicForests. The data consists of one point for each PGP that is classified as 'current' in VicForests' network of PGPs. PGPs that have been retired or abandoned are not included in the dataset. PGPs are permanently demarcated areas of forest that are periodically measured over long periods of time (20-50 years) and they require protection from unplanned disturbance events such fuel reduction burns.

Asset protection The layer has been designed to provide a reference layer detailing the general location of plot sites to facilitate the mapping of sampled sites, relocation, remeasurement and plot protection. It can be used in the preparation of Wood Utilisation Plans and Fire Protection Plans. Layer was previously PLOTRC25.

Raw data either acquired from DEPI in 2011 (for older PGPs) or collected by Garmin 12 GPS for all plots established after May 2012. Raw data for each plot location is stored in purpose built software and is combined with summary measurement information to compile the ESRI shape file PGPVF.shp.
