Description
- Title
- Regional Forestry Agreement boundaries
- Alternate title
- RFA25
- Purpose
- RFA25 is the key layer at 1:25 000 for all Departmental Regional Forest Agreement planning and reporting. This layer is used to provide the basic spatial framework within which cartographic products for RFA reports are derived.

- Supplemental Information
- History: RFA25 was created to eliminate the problem of RFA boundaries not matching existing 1:25000 information on digital and hardcopy maps generated for the SFRI project. Relationship to other Datasets: Most of the features in this coverage were derived from the following layers: HYDRO25, ROAD25, CONT25, FORMB25, HYDROP25, LANDMMT25, RAIL25, SHORE25, PARCEL, FMA100 and an old 1:100000 RFA boundary coverage. Current Design Issues: RFA25 boundary arcs, where it could not be determined where the corresponding arc in FMA100 or an old 1:100000 RFA boundary coverage was originally sourced (i.e. not found in HYDRO25, ROAD25, CONT25, FORMB25, HYDROP25, LANDMMT25, RAIL25, SHORE25 or PARCEL), were manually digitised based on an estimation of the most logical alignment of the arc. Boundary arcs that appeared to follow ridgelines in FMA100 or old RFA coverages where generated using a DEM created from the CONT25 library layer. Related Documents: None Refer to the metadata of the following layers: HYDRO25, ROAD25, CONT25, FORMB25, HYDROP25, LANDMMT25, RAIL25, SHORE25, PARCEL and FMA100.

- Statement
- Dataset Source: RFA25 was created using arcs and boundary information from the following datasets: HYDRO25, ROAD25, CONT25, FORMB25, HYDROP25, LANDMMT25, RAIL25, SHORE25, PARCEL, FMA100 and old RFA boundary coverages. Refer to the metadata for these layers for more detailed information of there origin. Dataset Originality: Derived
- Description
- Collection Method: Maps, Existing Datasets
- Description
- The template for FMA25 was derived from an old 1:100000 RFA boundary ARCINFO coverage. The as2482 attributes in that coverage and FMA100.aat formed the basis for extracting the arcs from either HYDRO25, ROAD25, CONT25, FORMB25, HYDROP25, LANDMMT25, RAIL25, SHORE25 or PARCEL in order to produce a 1:25000 RFA layer. All polygon attributes come directly from the existing 1:100000 RFA boundary coverage.

Attribute Quality
- Comments
- All arc features derived from another layer are validated within that layer prior to being copied into RFA25. All arc features captured within Drafting are coded for AS2482. Those that were supplied by the Area may not necessarily have retained the AS2482 code. All labels are coded for RFA name.

Conceptual Consistency
- Comments
- All values contained In the AAT and the PATs have been checked against the appropriate lists of valid codes.
Missing Data
- Comments
- All areas which are covered by a published Forest Management Plan are accounted for. All polygons contain an RFA name and number. All arcs are atrributed for their original AS2482 sourced from other 1:25000 datasets (AS2482_25) and the AS2482 from corresponding arcs in FMA100 (AS2482_100) or old 1:100000 RFA boundary coverages.
