Abstract:
Polygons defining the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Shorebird Sites in Victoria. The East Asian-Australasian Flyway extends from the Arctic Circle through Eastern and South East Asia to Australia and New Zealand and encompasses 22 countries. The East Asian-Australasian Shorebird Site Network was launched in 1996. It is now known as the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Site Network. Corner Inlet was listed as a shorebird site at the launch of the East Asian-Australasian Shorebird Site Network in 1996. In 2000, two other Victorian sites joined the network: Western Port, Port Phillip Bay (Western Shoreline) and Bellarine Peninsula. In 2006, Shallow Inlet Marine and Coastal Park and Discovery Bay Coastal Park were added. Adding these sites to the network provides recognition for Victoria's most important shorebird sites.

Dataset Source: Port Phillip (Western Shoreline) and Bellarine Peninsula:
Boundaries are largely derived from 1:25,000 Vicmap boundaries or Port Phillip Bay bathymetry. The boundary around the Western Treatment Plant is derived from 1:25,000 VicMap Roads and traced from high resolution aerial imagery to follow named roads, carriers, lagoon edges. At Ryan's swamp, the Melbourne Water fenceline is traced from high resolution aerial imagery (2007).

Western Port:
Boundaries largely derived from 1:25,000 Vicmap boundaries

Corner Inlet:
Boundaries derived from Ramsar100 which were largely derived from 1:100 000 land management boundaries (LANDMMT100), hydrology boundaries (HYDRO100) , and road boundaries (ROAD100).

Shallow Inlet:
Boundaries derived from the Parks and Conservation reserves dataset PK_PARKRES.

Discovery Bay:
Boundaries derived from the Parks and Conservation reserves dataset PK_PARKRES. The shorebird site includes the area between high and low water mark in Discovery Bay Marine National Park.
