Seagrass in Corner Inlet and Nooramunga

dataset: SEAGRASSCI
This layer represents the spatial extent, species distrubtion and density of seagrass meadows within the Corner Inlet and Nooramunga. This layer is a result of a baseline survey of seagrass within the Corner Inlet and Nooramunga. Ecological research into the health of seagrass meadows requires the type of detailed information collected in this baseline survey. This information will be used to establish future monitoring programs and it is envisaged that these areas will be re-surveyed every 5 years to detect macro changes.

This layer was created to assess seagrass changes and spatial distribution in Corner Inlet, by the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute (MAFRI) for Fisheries Victoria, Parks, Flora and Fauna.

Current Design Issues: This information represents a snap shot in time of the spatial extent of seagrass meadows in the Corner Inlet and Nooramunga. The area of coverage and density of the various species of seagrass constantly changes with time, both seasonally and yearly Future Design Issues: Future design considerations may include the adding extra species and recording the condition of the seagrass in relation to epiphyte coverage Related Documents: None
