Wetland Groundwater Dependent Ecosystem (GDE) Value
dataset:
WET_GDE_VALUE
Three datasets were intersected to develop the Wetland GDE Value raster grid:
(1) Wetland GDEs (SKM, 2011);
(2) RAMSAR wetland sites;
(3) Australian Directory of Important Wetlands.
Each grid contains the following attibution:
Wetland_SKM where 0 = no and 1 = yes
RAMSAR where 0 = no and 1 = yes
Wetland_Directory where 0 = no and 1 = yes
SKM_RAM_DIR which combined the results of the previous three intersection attributes per grid
GDE_Value - a textual description of SKM_RAM_DIR

- Dataset Source: This dataset is based on theree primary inputs: (1) Wetland GDE Dataset . SKM (2011) developed a dataset of wetlands for Victoria with attribution of the primary water source for each wetland. The first step in the development of this dataset was to generate a wetland location layer. This was derived largely from the existing Victorian statewide wetlands dataset (Wetlands_1994), but also incorporated additional information obtained from CMAs and information regarding alpine wetlands. The second step involved intersecting the statewide dataset of wetland locations with the statewide mapping of potential GDEs (Dresal et al., 2010). This resulted in the attribution of wetlands with a primary water source of groundwater. The final step involved excluding any of the groundwater fed wetlands that resided on floodplain or alluvium geomorphological units. These wetlands were re-attributed with a primary water source of river and hence were removed from the groundwater fed wetland layer; (2) RAMSAR Sites .Australian Directory of Important Wetlands ; and (3)Australian Directory of Important Wetlands. The three datasets were intersected to generate the final 100m resolution dataset of wetland GDEs with attribution of national and international value. Dataset Originality: Derived
