  Recognition and Settlement Agreement areas

dataset: RSA
This dataset is provide to public based on information sourced from the Department of Justice and Regulation. The data shows the areas covered by Recognition and Settlement Agreements (RSA) with traditional owner groups under the Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010 (Vic). RSA give formal recognition to traditional owner groups as the traditional owners of the agreement area. A RSA may include some or all of the following agreements - Natural Resource Agreement, Land Use Activity Agreement, Land Agreement. The area of Crown land within the RSA boundary is the area over which natural resource Authorisation Orders apply. These include the Flora and Fauna, Hunting, Forest Produce, Water and Camping Authorisation Orders. The boundary also indicates the area of Crown land over which the Land Use Activity Agreement applies. Aboriginal title with joint management arrangements (under the Land Agreement) over some Crown land parks and reserves may also apply within this boundary.

Lineage

Description
1) Initial draft boundary is created called a Recognition and Settlement Agreement (RSA) Application Area 2) This is used to undertake a number of processes that support the consulation process with relevant parties in developing an agreed RSA. 3) Once agreed and approved the RSA becomes the final accepted boundary for use.
Statement
Dataset Source: This dataset is derived from a combination of source datasets and was produced to satisfy the purpose of : i) generating an appropriate representation for internal DELWP spatial process and ii) use in internal mapshare product to show the extent of the boundary. The primary source datasets were Vicmap Property parcel, Vicmap Transport roads, Vicmap Elevation contours & Vicmap Hydro. As from the 2017 the representation is supplied by AAV on behalf of the Department of Justice and Regulation. Information was also provided by Aboriginal Affairs Victoria and the National Native Title Tribunal Dataset Originality: Derived

Attributes

Column Name Obligation Unique Data Type Data Length Data Precision Data Scale Reference Table Owner Reference Table Name Reference Table Code Column Name Short Column Name Definition
CATEGORY O N VARCHAR2 255 CATEGORY A place holder that may be used in the future to categorise areas within the RSA area
DATE_COMMENCED O N DATE 7 DATECOM The date when the RSA was formally recognised
ID O N NUMBER 22 4 0 ID An sequential number given to each of the RSA areas (eg. the Dja Dja Wurrung RSA has an ID = 1. If the DDW RSA area gets split to populate the category or sub category field then all the polygons get a ID value of 1)
VERSION_DATE O N DATE 7 VERS_DATE The date upon which the last edits to the boundary were made
LEGISLATION O N VARCHAR2 255 LEGISLATN The ACT under which the RSA area is recognised. All names are in uppercase. Eg TRADITIONAL OWNER SETTLEMENT ACT
OFFICIAL_AREA_HA O N NUMBER 22 38 8 OFFICALHA An area statement of the size of the RSA area (in hectares)
SUB_CATEGORY O N VARCHAR2 255 CUBCAT A place holder that may be used in the future to sub-categorise areas within the RSA area
LABEL_NAME O N VARCHAR2 255 LABEL_NAME Contains the name of the traditional owners of the agreement area. All names are in upper and lower case and can contain abbreviations. The purpose of this field is to simplify the labelling process for mapping applications.
NAME O N VARCHAR2 255 NAME
