This layer is part of Vicmap Lite and contains polygon features delineating forested areas. This Vicmap Lite dataset is suited for use between scales of 1: 250,000 million and 1 : 1 million. The polygons were sourced from TREE100. The level of attribute information, the number of features and the number of vertices has been simplified to suit the 1: 250,000 - 1 : 2 million scale range. The concept of a Scale Use Code has been introduced to help control the level of detail displayed.

Dataset Source: Derivation of this dataset uses 50 ha as the minimum polygon size and 100 m as the generalize weed tolerance.
Processing details are defined in the Arc/Info aml tree100_simple.aml as follows:
drop source cover items that may prevent dissolve working properly
remove undersize tree cover polygons in source cover
populate undersize hole polygons with a present value
dissolve out undersize holes
generalize remaining features
populate undersize hole polygons created by the generalize with a present value
populate large orphan tree cover polygons created by the generalize with a present value
dissolve out undersize holes
remove any remaining undersize tree cover polygons created by the generalize
dissolve out any undersize holes within holes
remove any label points in the world poly
populate large orphan tree polygons created by the generalize with a present value
