State-Wide Old Growth Survey Grid
dataset:
MOG_SURVEY_GRID
The STATE-WIDE OLD GROWTH SURVEY GRID and STATE-WIDE OLD GROWTH SURVEY GRID CENTROIDS dataset were developed to assist the verification of the presence or absence of old growth forest in Victoria. The STATE-WIDE OLD GROWTH SURVEY GRID dataset is a 1-hectare square grid which has been created in ArcGIS pro 2.3. STATE-WIDE OLD GROWTH SURVEY GRID CENTROID is the centre of each 1-hectare square grid cell.
This is polygon layer consisting of 100mX100m squares covering the extent of Victoria.
Within each square is a centroid that is used as a survey point for undertaking tree
assessments. The centroids are located within a square that has a bounding box with
coordinates that are divisible by 100. So a centroid with coordinates 2,616,250m 2,400,050
is within a square with left X = 2,616,200 and right X =2,616,300, bottom Y = 2,400,000 and
top y = 2,400,100.
For further information on old-growth verification please refer to the Procedure for Identifying Old Growth Forest in Victoria.
