Murray River - Inundation Extents for the VIC Constraints Measures Program

dataset: CMP_Murray_River_Innundation_Extents
The Inundation Merged datasets (Zones 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9) represent the spatial extent of floodplain inundation across the Murray–Darling Basin in Victoria under a range of modelled flow scenarios (15,000–50,000 ML/day). Hydraulic model outputs were converted from raster to polygon, merged across flow levels, and standardised through GIS processing steps including dissolve, field calculation, and schema updates. Each zone contains polygon features with attributes describing the zone identifier, flow event, coordinate system, processing notes, and geometry metrics. Data are provided as shapefiles in the projected coordinate system GDA2020 VicGrid (EPSG:7899), capturing potential inundation extents for ecological assessment, planning, and community consultation in Victoria. Description

Title
Murray River - Inundation Extents for the VIC Constraints Measures Program
Alternate title
CMP_Murray_River_Innundation_Extents
Purpose
These datasets provide a program-wide spatial representation of potential floodplain inundation extents in Victoria to support feasibility studies, ecological assessments, cultural heritage evaluations, hydrological planning, and community engagement. They are intended for use in environmental analysis, scenario testing, and decision-making for river flow management under the Victorian Constraints Measures Program.

Statement
This dataset was derived from hydraulic model outputs created for the Constraints Measures Program.
Description
Hydraulic model raster outputs for multiple flow scenarios (15k–50k ML/day) and prior polygon layers; GDA2020 VicGrid (EPSG:7899).
Description
Converted rasters to polygons, merged across flow scenarios, applied dissolve and field calculations, standardised schema, and exported as shapefiles with consistent attributes.

Quality

Attribute Quality
Comments
Standardised and validated; consistent with hydraulic model outputs.
Positional Accuracy
Comments
Accurate at regional scale; may not capture micro-topography.
Conceptual Consistency
Comments
Maintains relationships across zones, flow scenarios, and geometry metrics.
Missing Data
Comments
The dataset is considered complete for the modeled scenarios and geographic extent.
