Geological units represented as two dimensional polygons (1:50,000)
dataset:
SG_GEOLOGICAL_UNIT_50K
This dataset contains primary geological data, namely outcropping/sub-cropping geological rock units and boundary types separating
rock units. Other geological features (e.g. fault or dyke) are included where the feature forms a boundary to rock units.
The polygon edges are constructed from the corresponding geological contacts and faults layer. This layer contains stratigraphic
units down to the member level for formal geological units.

Attribute Quality
- Comments
- Attributes are mostly qualitative data obtained from field mapping by ERDD geologists. Validated for quality in 2012 in order to meet ERDD standards.
Positional Accuracy
- Comments
- The polygon edges are constructed from the corresponding geological contacts and faults layer. Generally accurate to 1:50,000
