Timber resources allocated to VicForests OBSOLETE
dataset:
WORKING_FOREST_AREAS
This dataset is now OBSOLETE. A copy has been taken and is called OBSOLETE_FORESTS.WORKING_FOREST_AREAS_20131001. The lastest version of this dataset is called FORESTS.VICFORESTS_ALLOCATION_APR2019
The Allocation Order 2013 made under section 13 of the Sustainable Forests (Timber) Act 2004 allocates and vests specified timber in State forests to VicForests for the purpose of harvesting and selling. This dataset specifies the spatial extent and location of these timber resources, by forest stand type.
Correction
The WORKING_FOREST_AREAS spatial data layer stored in the corporate library between November 2013 and January 2019 contained an omission. Allocated area was omitted from the layer in error. Some area located approximately between Bairnsdale and Orbost was not included in the spatial data layer. Please contact the Custodian for more information.

Description
- Title
- Timber resources allocated to VicForests OBSOLETE
- Alternate title
- WORKING_FOREST_AREAS
- Purpose
- This spatial data layer called `WORKING_FOREST_AREAS¿ defines the location of the forest stands that contains the timber resources to which the Allocation Order 2013 (as amended) refers to. This layer is the data used to create the map in Appendix 1 of the Order titled `Extent and location of forest stands to which VicForests has access¿. This layer is the data quantified in Table 1 of the Order titled, `Forest stands to which order applies, total area available for harvest and five year harvest area limits¿. The spatial data layer has also been distributed under the name `wfa_20131001¿. FOREST_STANDS field The FOREST_STANDS field classifies the forest stands into two forest type categories; `Ash¿ and `Mixed Species¿. The areas classified as 'Ash' includes areas dominated by Eucalyptus delegatensis, E.regnans or E.nitens. The areas classified as `Mixed Species¿ includes all other forest stand types. The FOREST_STANDS field is quantified in item 2 of Table 1 of the Order. FMZ field The FMZ field labels the forest stands the forest management zones applicable when the spatial data layer was created. The FMZ field describes the allocated area into three categories; `GMZ¿, `CFP` and `SMZ¿. The labels correspond to General Management Zone (GMZ) , Code of Forest Practice modelled exclusion zone (CFP) and Special Management Zone (SMZ).
