VEAC Recommendations 1:25,000 polygon
dataset:
VEACRECS25_POLYGON
VEACRECS25 shows recommended public land use for each Crown parcel. It portrays recommendations resulting from studies conducted by the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council (and former Environment Conservation Council and Land Conservation Council). Recommendations shown are as approved or varied by Government, and include subsequent formal amendments and revocations. Land use categories have been assigned to Crown land parcels. VicMap Property parcel layer was used as the base. Boundaries are based on the best available information at the time. Continuing approved recommendations from previous studies are also shown. Note that public land use recommendations were not made for certain cities, rural cities, towns and boroughs. ..

Description
- Title
- VEAC Recommendations 1:25,000 polygon
- Alternate title
- VEACRECS25_POLYGON
- Purpose
- VEACRECS25 shows government approved public land use for Crown land and some state Government owned freehold parcels. It is intended to be a reference tool for state government, statutory authorities, local government and the general community. Areas of application include: strategic planning, project planning, land/forest/park/reserve management, reference framework, research and asset management. It is intended that VEACRECS25 will be used in conjunction with VicMap Property and/or other datasets.
- Supplemental Information
- Relationship to other Datasets: VEACRECS25 was created using VicMap Property's parcel layer as the base. Errors, if any, in the VicMap Property parcel boundaries used will have been carried through. Current Design Issues: VEACRECS25 was created to provide a comprehensive and accurate graphical database of the government approved public land use for all Crown land parcels that is easily accessible to clients. The layer is designed to work in conjunction with VicMap Property. Future Design Issues: The data model will include all the current attributes with the addition of others to cover all other public land management requirements. Related Documents: None

- Dataset Source: VEACRECS25 is derived using VicMap Property parcel layer as a base, and overlaying polygons digitised from LCC, ECC and VEAC study reports to determine boundaries of public land uses. Hardcopy maps and reports provided additional information. Validation of the dataset is carried out by VEAC using data on government approvals, variations, amendments and revocations, and detailed plans, the Portal database, airphoto interpretation, technical data, field notes and maps. Current mapping uses the latest version of VicMap Property at the time of creation. Dataset Originality: Primary & Derived
- Description
- Collection Method: unk
- Description
- The LCC, ECC and VEAC conducted public land use studies across Victoria, resulting in recommendations being made and documented in reports and hardcopy maps. These small scale maps from individual study reports were digitised. VicMap Property parcel layer (1:25,000) was used as the base for VEACRECS25. The digitised layers were layed over the parcel layer and used to provisionally determine recommendations for each parcel. Remaining Crown land was added. Validation for Crown Land status and recommendations was carried out by VEAC using data on government approvals, variations, amendments and revocations, and detailed plans, the Portal database, airphoto interpretation, technical data, field notes and maps.

Quality
Attribute Quality
- Comments
- VEAC / CLM data has been validated for each parcel. Attribute accuracy is limited to the extent of available data and information.
Positional Accuracy
- Comments
- Most parcels contain a single recommendation. Where parcels have more than one recommendation and parks and reserves have scheduled plans, boundaries were taken from the digital data. Other boundaries within parcels were drawn from airphotos, hardcopy plans or written descriptions held by VEAC.
Conceptual Consistency
- Comments
- All polygons have been checked for self-intersections, overlaps and gaps by MapInfo's Check Regions function and visually.
Missing Data
- Comments
- VEACRECS25 is now completed and continuing update with VEAC investigations
