Boat moorings along the Victorian Coast
dataset:
VIC_BOAT_MOORING_POINTS
This layer identifies the location of coastal boat moorings and harbours along the Victorian coastline. This includes marina and other fixed birth moorings, jetty moorings and swing moorings. The layer represents each location as a single point. The area of some swing moorings are quite large, but represented by a single point.

- Purpose
- The dataset was created for the Victorian Oil Spill Response Atlas to provide the location of fixed birth moorings, jetty moorings and swing moorings along the Victorian coastline and estuaries.
- Supplemental Information
- History: This dataset is based on moorings data created for the OSRA which covered Port Phillip Bay and Western Port. Current Design Issues: The dataset was created to assist contingency planning and response to marine pollution by providing information on locations of boat moorings. This dataset does not identify minor moorings. Some moorings cover a larger area and are represented by a single point approximatley in the middle. Future Design Issues: New moorings will need to be added to the database. Related Documents: None
