Lineage
- Description
- Laser strikes were classified into ground and non-ground points using a single algorithm across the project area. Further classification by algorithm was undertaken to distinguish above ground features, such as buildings and vegetation. Manual checking and editing of the data classification was compared against available imagery to further improved the quality of the classification and terrain model. The LAS file point classifications levels are formatted to comply with ICSM Standard LiDAR Point Classes. GPS base station support was provided by GPSnet CORS base stations. Ground check points allowed an assessment of the accuracy of the ALS data. The vertical accuracy of the data in this volume has been enhanced to 0.10m by means of adjustment to additional field survey reference points that were observed within the Lara project area.

Conceptual Consistency
- Comments
- The definition of the ground may be less accurate in isolated pockets of dissimilar terrain/vegetation combinations. Accuracy of the ground surface under dense canopy may be reduced. Laser accuracy at swath edges may be reduced. Ground definition in vegetated terrain may contain localized areas with systematic errors or outliers which fall outside this accuracy estimate. Gaps may occur due to diminished returns over water and materials with low laser reflectivity, such as black composite roofing.
Missing Data
- Comments
- The data is consistent with respect to the visual representation of ground and non-ground features, continuity at the tile boundaries and representation of elevation values.
