Quality
- Conceptual Consistency
- ALS strikes on water bodies have been ommitted from the dataset. The definition of the ground under trees may be less accurate.
- Missing Data
- The LiDAR datasets representing various ground and non-ground features are complete for the defined project extents.
Lineage
- Description
- Unthinned ground points Fugro Spatial Solutions Pty Ltd aim is to select those points that are part of a clean ground surface, which might not be 100% of the ground hits. This results in a cleaner dataset, without compromising on terrain detail and accuracy. Ground filtering algorithms, tailored for this project, data type and terrain type, are applied to the full dataset. The ground filtered dataset is then visually checked by an operator, and incorrectly classified data is corrected or the ground filtering algorithm is adjusted and then visually checked. For the verification of the ground classifications, intensity imagery is used as a backdrop image. Thinned ground points A modelkey point dataset is extracted from the unthinned ground points dataset, consisting of those points that contribute to the shape of the terrain. Non contributing points are removed. First return points The ALS system is capable of collection a total of 4 returns from each pulse. This dataset consists of only the first returns, which can also be single returns. Last return points This dataset consists of only the last returns, which can also be single returns. non-ground points Any lidar return, not classified as ground, but higher than ground, is classified as non-ground return. Points closer than 30cm from the ground surface are eliminated from this dataset, to avoid having very low bushes, schrubs and grasses becoming part of this dataset. Contours Smoothed contours at 0.5 interval have been generated over the project area.
